Turmeric Powder Latte: Benefits of the Golden Spice
LAST UPDATED: March 25, 2024 | CBD Drinks, Coffee
Turmeric powder lattes, otherwise known as golden milk, are one of MightyMe’s favourite winter warmers. Not only do we love the turmeric latte’s earthy, soothing flavour and rich orange colour. We love the turmeric powder benefits that come with it.
In fact, turmeric has a long 4,000 year history. There are also many health benefits associated with turmeric powder that can apparently treat everything from colds and joint pain to inflammation and potentially even heart disease. Turmeric and its active ingredient, curcumin, can also be used to treat liver inflammation and create treatments for scrapes. Its pigment is also used by many to improve skin.
Combine turmeric powder with MightyMe powder to create one of our favourite CBD drinks, the turmeric latte.
What is Ayuverdic wisdom?
Turmeric powder is associated with a form of wisdom called Ayurvedic wisdom. Ayurveda is a traditional medicine system that originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. It is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Turmeric powder is a major part of that.
Ayurvedic wisdom includes a holistic approach to health and healing. It emphasises the use of natural remedies, such as herbs like turmeri, to promote balance and well-being. It also includes lifestyle practices, such as yoga and meditation, to improve overall health and reduce stress.
Ayurvedic also recognises three fundamental energies called Vata, Pitta and Kapha. They are present in the body and mind and govern all physical and mental processes. They govern the body’s metabolic processes and their balance or imbalance is believed to be the root of all health problems.
Ayurvedic practitioners use various diagnostic methods to determine an individual’s unique combination of doshas. Then they use this information to develop a personalized treatment plan that aims to restore balance and improve overall health. In India, Ayurvedic medicine is widely used. It has gained popularity in Western countries as well. Though turmeric is not a substitute for conventional medicine, we love that it involves our favourite spice – turmeric powder.
Turmeric Powder Benefits
You know the one. It’s deep orange and smells delicious. It is commonly used in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine. However, turmeric is used in traditional medicine for its supposed health benefits. Some of the potential benefits and properties of turmeric powder are:
Anti-inflammatory: Turmeric powder contains a compound called curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory properties. It can potentially help people with conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Antioxidant: Turmeric powder is also a good source of antioxidants, which may help to protect cells from damage. A great reason to enjoy a delicious turmeric latte.
Heart health: There are some studies that suggest turmeric is beneficial for heart health. It helps lower cholesterol levels and helps reduce the risk of heart disease.
Brain health: There is also some evidence to suggest that turmeric powder may be beneficial for brain health, as it may help improve memory and reduce the risk of certain brain disorders.
But hey. Some of these claims may seem outlandish. You should take claims about turmeric powder benefits with a pinch of salt. However, research about turmeric is still taking place. Also, use turmeric supplements with caution. High doses or long-term use can even cause stomach upset, allergic reactions or interact with certain medications, so its worth being careful before you tuck into your twelfth turmeric latte of the afternoon!
